It starts off rustic

What do you do with over a thousand yards of semi-solid lace weight yarn?

Start designing a sweater.

With just over a thousand yards to work with, I have a gauge constraint with this design. It must be knit at around 5 sts per inch (worsted) in order to make it stretch. A quick swatch revealed that this gauge produces a lovely gausey fabric. This sort of slightly uneven fabric and rich color made me think of apple picking in the fall and Anne of Green Gables.

At present it feels like perhaps some of that rustic feeling has fallen out of the design (especially since the fabric is slightly see-through), but I am still wholely captivated by these images and the memories they evoke. I found some lovely images in this vein to share with you for the rest of the week.
