Perspective

I really struggle with the iterative process of designing. The wasted time and yarn. In my head I know that creativity requires plenty of room for mistakes. And in that extra space is often where the best products come from. My camera has really helped me to practice recognizing that false starts are not mistakes, they are simply part of a process and allow beautiful and unexpected outcomes.

I have learned not to judge my photos by what I see on the tiny camera screen. I must wait until a little time has passed and I can view a large, clear view of each shot. I'm learning to apply this same process to my designs. I knit a until I have what I think I need and then I set it aside for a little while. When the emotion is gone my perspective expands, then I can make a clear decision about how to move forward.
