Minisode 3.25 - "Notice Me"

Synopsis

Knitterati's first ever mini-episode is the stand-alone version of the "Notice Me" stop motion video first aired in Episode 3.

And don't forget! Knitterati is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs license. Which means you can share this video on your website or give a copy to a friend. Just tell where you got it and don't try to sell it or alter it.

Episode 3 - "Knitting Together"

Synopsis

In this episode of Knitterati, three knitters discuss their knitting groups. We learn about a great video pod-catcher I recently discovered. I demonstrate how to make your own unique point protectors. I share a way that we knitters can share our unwanted knitting books. And finally, Knitterati presents its first ever music video.

Tiffany of Nature's Yarns shares some suggestions about tools to collect for the brand-new knitter and a couple of knitting indulgences that even the newest of knitters will enjoy.

Create a video answering one of the following sets of questions:

Is knitting a social activity for you? What does your knitting group look like? What do you like most about your group?
Does anyone else in your family knit? Do you feel that your knitting connects you to the rest of your family? Will you pass on your knitting to "the next generation"?

In order to keep my production schedule, answers to Question 1 must be received by December 5, 2007. Question 2 answers are due January 5, 2008.

These questions are designed to be open-ended; there are no correct answers. I would prefer to have raw, unedited footage. The mini interviews that you see are shot with no rehearsal in one take approximately 5 minutes long. Choose a quiet place with good lighting to film and set up the camera on a tripod or table that is at eye level. Send me an email at ninaclock[at]ninaclock.com if you have any questions or are ready to send your video.

On the Road

I am looking for knitting groups in the DC Metro area who would be interested in participating in mini interviews. Please contact me (ninaclock[at]ninaclock.com) if you think your knitting friends would be interested.

I will be taking Knitterati on the road with me during the Christmas holidays. If you are part of a knitting group nearby Kankakee Illinois or in between Chicago and Sheboygan, Wisconsin, I would love to visit your group and take interviews for Knitterati. The faces, and stories of ordinary knitters are important. In our knitting groups, yarn shops, online forums, email lists, and podcasts we share our ideas, opinions, and lives. My hope is that Knitterati will draw our community into the new medium of online video, give us more opportunity to celebrate our craft, and allow us to consider our knitting culture.

Learning how to make a video podcast has been quite an adventure. Therefore, it seems appropriate that this first, pilot episode of Knitterati should be about the journeys and adventures of knitters.
