Dreaming a little
I've spent a good deal of time lately considering publishing. Elizabeth Zimmerman, Janet Szabo, Cat Bordhi, Jess Hutch...I want to join these ladies and become a successful self-publisher some day. If they can do it; if 'zine writers can do it, then I should be able to, right? It's one thing to put out a few pdf patterns, but the ultimate goal is to publish a real booky looking book. And I want to do it my way from start to finish. I will not let a disaster like the cover of "No Sheep for You" happen to my hard work. That was all the clueless publishers fault. They took a really, really good and informative book and made it look cheap and uninteresting. Besides, I like pretty much every facet of publishing editing, writing, layout, photography...all of it can be fun. I've decided that when I get close to starting a book I'm going to contact these trail blazing knitters and ask them for their advice. I'm also going to learn as much as I can from the thriving self published 'zine culture.
But all of that will have to wait. It's too far in the future to start worrying about. But it is fun to dream!
