There are books too!
"Egbert listening to music (Bruce Springsteen)" by halighalie
I've recently discovered the world of free audio books. For quite some time I've known about Librivox and I've even listened to some of my favorite classics this way. However, many of the books are read by multiple volunteers and often change from chapter to chapter. Some readers are excellent, some are mediocre, but the bad ones are almost unbearable. Aside from the sometimes questionable readings, librivox reads books from the public domain (read "old"). I thought if I wanted to listen to more contemporary work I would need to subscribe to audible and pay for the better readings. I was wrong and happily so.
There is is whole movement of creative writers who are bringing their original works to life through podcast novels. I started with 7th Son and just finished Nina Kimberly the Merciless. I can't wait to see what other great stories I can enjoy. Podio Books seems to be where these novelists are collecting. I haven't taken the time to search for any new ones, but I've really enjoyed the ones above. I'm looking forward to finding new novels very soon.
